Shift Leader - Bluebells Short Break Unit

Role Responsibility

Bluebells Short Break Unit in Detling provides overnight residential short breaks for children with disabilities from the age of 5 to 18 years old. 

We are looking for a Shift Leader to join our Team from December 2022 who is flexible in their approach, able to work collaboratively and would share our commitment to improving outcomes for children.  You will be required to lead shifts and work as a member of a small team providing a nurturing and safe environment and promoting the emotional and physical well-being of the children and young people accessing overnight residential short breaks.

The job requires the ability to co-ordinate shift plans, ensure accurate record keeping, liaise with other professionals, undertake care planning, and provide supervision and support to staff while monitoring standards of care.  You will need to hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and need to have experience of working with young people in a residential setting.  You will have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection and be able to take personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance. In return, you will be provided with a rolling programme of specialist training and be offered regular supervision to enable you to confidently progress in your career.

You will be required to work a set shift pattern, which includes two weekends per month and sleep-in duties.

Interviews will be conducted under the ‘Choosing with care’ assessment process.
