Governance Professional - The Education People
Role Responsibility
The Education People Clerking Service have an exciting opportunity as we look to expand our service to recruit a term time only working Governance Professional.
With the Department for Education recognising and promoting the skills of the Governance Professional in supporting and influencing the effectiveness of governing boards, this is an exciting time to be joining The Clerking Service as we also recognise the value of the role.
In this varied role you will be providing the governance professional support to a number of schools within Kent and beyond. This will be either in a face to face or virtual capacity.
The purpose of this role is to perform the duties as the Governance Professional to Governing Bodies, Trust Boards and Management Committees on behalf of The Education People Clerking Service.
To work proactively with allocated boards by managing the administrative duties and providing organisational support; advising and guiding the boards to ensure they are compliant with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework including ensuring the board understands the potential consequences for non- compliance; advising on procedural matters in relation to the operation of the board including at all levels of governance within a Trust.
Contribute to and influence the effectiveness of the governing boards by keeping abreast of national and local initiatives and developments in governance, to drive school improvement and to deliver the best outcomes for all pupils.
Support the development of The Clerking Service to enable its growth and high quality by mentoring new recruits ensuring their quality assurance and supporting the Clerking Service Lead with performance management.
The role is home agile working based during term time, though there will be the need to attend meetings either during the working day or early evening. Time off for any evening working will be agreed following discussion with The Clerking Service Lead. Equipment for the role is provided.
The main working hours of the post will be 9:00am- 5:30pm with some agreed flexibility.
Ability to travel is essential
Proven experience of working in clerking or governance is essential with the ability to consistently deliver a high level of service in a timely manner.
The role offers performance - based incentive pay awards
