Country Parks Warden - Shorne Woods

Role Responsibility

At KCC’s largest and busiest country park, we require a part-time Country Park to maintain the site and its facilities in a clean, safe and attractive state through litter picking, carrying out minor repairs, assisting and guiding visitors, enforcing site rules and reporting problems.

The post is for alternate weeks, comprising 28 hours per week summer and 23 hours per week autumn/winter and attend bi-monthly one hour meetings. Averaging 13.13 hours per week.

The winter hours are, 1 hr per day at dusk Mon – Fri, 8 hrs Sat and 8 hrs on Sun and Bank Hols. The Summer hours are, 2 hrs per day Mon –Fri (the 2 hours before dusk), 8 hrs on Sat and 8 hrs on Sun & Bank Hols. Plus 2 hours additional hours per week patrolling the wider woodlands.

You will be reliable and possess good interpersonal skills and have a positive attitude towards customer care. A basic knowledge of the countryside is important, together with a flexible attitude to working hours and a level of fitness appropriate to the needs of the job.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
