Assessment Officer OOHs Team

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council are looking to recruit an Out of Hours Assessment Officer to join the well-established Kent & Medway Out of Hours Service. This is a full time post of 37 hrs per week, worked on a shift rota basis.

You will work as part of the service to assist the Out of Hours team to support / deliver a service to those people with urgent or immediate need that cannot wait until the following day. Your role will include; providing a prompt and accurate response to enquiries into the Service, providing advice or assistance to services users (adults and children) on a wide range of issues relating to support and safety needs, completing or assisting social workers with assessments of need, inputting data and ensuring good record keeping as well as contributing to the overall development of the service.   

You will be experienced in working with people in Children’s and/or Adult’s services. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to work with people in crisis or in distress and remain calm under pressure. You will need to be able to work unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. You should have a working knowledge of Kent’s safeguarding and child protection guidance and thresholds, as well as key policies and guidance relating to supporting vulnerable adults.    

KCC offer an attractive benefits package. This includes an unsociable hours enhancement, which will be replaced by a fixed market premium payment from January 2021 (pro rata where applicable).

This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer facing position.  The Council therefore has a statutory duty under part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh Sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.  The appropriate standards are set out in the job description/person specification.
