Accountant Level 1 (Training)

We are looking to recruit a KR9 Accountant Level 1 (Training) in Finance, within the Chief Accountants Team, Kent County Council (KCC). This post is offered on a permanent, full time basis (37 hours per week). The primary location for the role is Maidstone and the successful candidate will undertake hybrid working (both home and office working, according to business needs).
The Role
The successful applicant will provide professional expertise in the design and delivery of specialist finance training programmes for a range of staff, including budget managers, support staff and professional colleagues. The role involves providing support to the service directorates and to Finance colleagues to deal with complex requests.
This is an evolving role due to the implementation of our new Oracle Cloud financial system in 2025 and there will be opportunities to have an impact on the design and delivery of training, and to make a difference across the authority.
The successful applicant will be Educated to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent (e.g. AAT), and/or proven ability to deliver the requirements of the post and experience of working in a financial setting. You will have excellent spreadsheet skills (Microsoft Excel) and be a competent user of other Microsoft Office software e.g. Word and Outlook. You will have effective communication skills and experience of developing others through training and/or supervision. You will have a high level of understanding of financial systems and control processes and have a good understanding of local government finance.
