Role Responsibility

Are you a driven and ambitious Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors with experience in managing a range of occupied and unoccupied property and looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Real Estate Management Team and wanting to make a difference in Kent’s community?

As part of team of property professionals (likely to be a General Practice Chartered Surveyor or aspiring to become one) aligned to one of the four property portfolios, and in line with RICS Standards and the Council’s constitution, you will provide professional property advice on land and property matters, including developing, implementing, and delivering an effective Estate Management service, undertaking complex transactions and responding appropriately to contractual and legal matters.

You will implement Estates strategies across a portfolio of assets in one of the four portfolios:

  • Operational Estate
  • Education Estate
  • Tenanted Estate
  • Investment & Disposals (Surplus) Estate

As a surveyor, you will be at the forefront of the improvements as to how we manage our Estate. You will be a self-motivated individual who wants to make a difference to the portfolios and assets you team are responsible for.

We have vacancies across both our Estates and Disposals & Investment team for Surveyors based in the County of Kent with access to beautiful countryside, coastal destinations, historic towns, and villages.

What you'll do:

  • Deliver proactive property advice and guidance to KCC and its partners.
  • Effectively manage you/your team’s portfolio professionally, prioritising its requirements in a timely way to mitigate risk.
  • Maximise value, minimise operational costs/liabilities, and promote efficient use of assets.
  • Implement activity, change and operating policies to ensure that portfolios of land and property are managed effectively.
  • Deliver a programme of property estate deliverables in accordance with KCC’s Strategic objectives, including Framing Kent’s Future.
  • Ensuring value for money through driving externally procured property consultancy advice as necessary.

What you'll need:

  • A Level 5 qualification (Diploma or Degree) or advanced level professional knowledge or qualification.
  • Established experience in a similar environment working with a range of occupied and unoccupied assets.
  • Extensive experience and expertise in managing property transactions of varying complexity, driving value and quality of service.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to think laterally with a problem-solving approach.
