Social Care Involvement Officer
Role Responsibility
Kent County Council, Adult Social Care and Health
Full-time permanent role - 37 hours per week 9am-5pm working with occasional out of hours and weekend working.
Various locations in Kent and hybrid working (with regular travel within Kent to meet business need)
- Are you motivated by involving people and encouraging participation?
- Can you use your skills in active listening and communication to hear people’s experiences and promote co-production?
- Are you a community connector who can develop strong networks to make person-centred care and support a reality?
Our social care involvement officers play a key role in delivering our Kent Adult Social Care Strategy – a plan that aims to make a difference and support people to live a full life. This is a public facing role that will set up and run effective and proactive community-based forums, link people together and signpost people to the support that’s best for them. To achieve this, you will be expected to work closely with people that access support, community leaders, partner organisations and social care staff in a variety of places.
The successful candidate will need to work together with other team members and colleagues in an inclusive and innovative way. They will be expected to roll out training and provide ongoing support for staff and people with lived experience of social care.
The Challenge
Social care and health services face several significant challenges in the years ahead, as the population is living longer and with more complex needs; increasing demand on the health and care sector. We are committed to maintaining and improving high quality services in Kent, despite the challenges faced by all public sector organisations. To help us achieve our ambitions, we have a dedicated Innovation and Partnerships division to drive and deliver successful and positive change.
The Opportunity
These roles will report into our Involvement and Information function. Our key stakeholders include but are not limited to, people with learning disabilities, neurodivergent and autistic people, people that draw on mental health and physical disability support, older people and unpaid carers of adults.
Officers will be a key point of contact for their designated communities and will work to achieve the objectives of our adult social care community teams led by our assistant director in that area.
The Person
This is a hands-on role and requires travel, so every day will be different. If you enjoy the buzz of working with a range of people in communities and within a supportive multi-skilled team both virtually and face to face, this role will suit you well.
Applications from people with lived experience of accessing social care or carers’ support are strongly encouraged. Please do inform us via the application process of this and any reasonable adjustments or alternative formats you may need.
