Communications Support Officer
Role Responsibility
Kent County Council is launching a new strategic statement which sets our policy agenda, shaping the way in which the County Council will work with communities as we continue to transform our services. This is an outstanding opportunity to be at the heart of communicating this change to our residents, supporting the Leader and senior elected Members to raise awareness of major initiatives and events across the County that matter to local people’s lives.
We are looking for someone who can create engaging content across media and digital platforms, manage media relations, and support senior leaders at key events. You’ll help shape messaging, promote the Council’s work, and ensure communications are timely, clear and impactful.
Key responsibilities:
- Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, and media releases
- Accompany senior leaders to events and manage media relations
- Produce visual assets including photography, video and graphics
- Draft briefings and identify positive stories
- Monitor and report on media and social media activity
- Participate in the out-of-hours media handling rota
You’ll bring:
- Experience in PR and media, including working with journalists
- Excellent written and visual communication skills
- Confidence advising senior leaders in a fast-paced environment
- Strong digital and social media skills
- Attention to detail, flexibility, and resilience
