Lead Content Designer
Role Responsibility
We’re looking for an experienced content design expert to join our busy Marketing and Resident Experience (MRX) team.
The MRX Team leads Kent County Council’s communications, marketing, website, engagement and customer feedback functions and works to help design and improve the resident and user experience through various contact channels.
This is an exciting role and a great opportunity for a highly-rated and experienced website content designer to ensure KCC provides accurate and usable web content across a diverse portfolio of digital content projects and activities, often centred on the council’s main website: www.kent.gov.uk
You will be responsible for:
- helping Kent residents find and access the information, advice, guidance, and services they need on our websites,
- understanding the needs of residents and stakeholders and making sure you and team design content and digital experiences around them,
- lead high profile and complex digital projects, many of which will be supporting marketing and communications campaigns,
- work closely with colleagues and stakeholders, providing advice, direction, and support and helping to resolve any issues arising,
- ensuring the high quality and standard of content published on KCC’s websites.
About you:
- You have an excellent track record of producing user-centred, data-informed, accessible content, delivering at pace and in a culture of continuous improvement
- You have excellent web writing skills and have expert knowledge of content design principles, techniques and practices, including UX, IA and accessibility.
- You can analyse a range of data sources to draw insight about user behaviours and expectations, and can apply this knowledge to your content and digital experience design work
- You can build effective relationships with stakeholders, influence change and be the voice of the user or resident.
- You’re not afraid to challenge or to be challenged, you’re curious to know how things can be improved and you work exceptionally well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, focused on shared goals.
- It matters to you that the work you’ll do here will be helping the residents and communities of Kent.
If that sounds like you, and you want to help shape the role that digital plays in public services in Kent, we want to hear from you!
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
