Education Support Officer

Role Responsibility

Term Time Only - 39 weeks per year

Do you have a passion for supporting Children in Care to achieve better educational outcomes?

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Education Support Officer to join our friendly dynamic and supportive team at the Virtual School Kent, part of one of the largest councils in the county. We are looking for somebody to work with schools, stakeholders and young people in the Sevenoaks and Swanley area as part of the wider West Team.

You will manage a caseload of Young People and Children in Care and ensure that they all have high quality, up to date and regularly reviewed Personal Education Plans (PEPs)

To achieve this you will collaborate with schools and partners across multi-agency teams to ensure best outcomes for children and young people.

You will need to be self-motivated, highly organised with the ability to prioritise work and be flexible in order to meet the needs of the team. Excellent knowledge of the education system and a commitment to inclusion are essential to the role.

An Enhanced DBS will be required for this role.  We are looking for someone to work between 20 to 35 hrs a week the majority must be during core working hours.  There will be an opportunity to discuss working hours at the interview which will be held on 21st June.

This is a Term Time only Contract which will end initially on 1st April 2024.The base for this role is Worrall House, West Malling.

Your working week will be varied, with home-based and office-working as well as in different educational settings.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
