Digital Designer

Role Responsibility

Do you want to make a difference and join a team creating high quality website experiences for our customers and residents?

We’re MRX, the Marketing and Resident Experience team at Kent County Council and we need an enthusiastic Digital Designer to join us.

You will work with our Senior digital Designer to create responsive, user-centric designs to help residents access our services.  We’re looking for someone who understands visual communication and has the creative problem solving skills required to take our main KCC site and several sister sites to the next level.

This is an exciting new role for our team and a great opportunity for you to make your mark.

You will be responsible for:

• Creating responsive user centric designs that meet accessibility and good practice standards

• Graphic design and production of assets

• Building front-end elements for websites including kent.gov.uk

About you

• You love to be part of a team to deliver digital ideas.

• You know how to present your work and the thinking behind it.

• You have an excellent portfolio that showcases user-centric design.

• You love doing the research to get to the best design decisions

• You love to collaborate and being highly organised.

You have

• Experience of building front end elements

• Excellent UX and design skills

• Confident coding skills using modern HTML and CSS, as well as JavaScript

• Experience of analysing user data to improve customer journeys

• Excellent Adobe Creative Cloud app skills (especially Photoshop and Illustrator)

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
