Role Responsibility

Our Library Service has a lot more to offer than just books. With reading groups, talks and exhibitions, it offers a range of activities for every age group – from Baby Rhyme Time sessions to internet classes for older people.

To deliver all this, we need the right people serving our customers.  While relevant experience would come in handy, it isn’t essential – it’s much more important that you’re friendly, outgoing and approachable.  We have a vacancy for a Customer Support Assistant and if you enjoy working as part of a team, have a friendly helpful attitude to the Public and are interested in delivering services to the Community we would welcome an application from you.

The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

The successful applicant will have good interpersonal skills, feel comfortable meeting the public and be able to undertake a diverse range of tasks, often simultaneously.

Hours are worked on a Saturday,  you may be required to undertake periods of lone working, as well as occasional working at other locations across the Thanet Libraries District.
