Countryside Officer

Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Medway Valley Countryside Partnership as Countryside Officer. Your base will be Trosley Country Park and the role covers the Maidstone and Tonbridge and Malling areas.  

As part of a small team, you will work on a wide range of sites and habitats, delivering practical conservation tasks with groups of volunteers and engage in a range of projects to protect and enhance green spaces.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

- Plan, supervise and co-ordinate practical volunteer conservation tasks in the Maidstone and Tonbridge and Malling boroughs.

- Co-ordinate the invasive non-native species programme.

- Carry out wildlife surveys and produce management plans.

- Identify project and funding opportunities. Secure financial support for site management and projects.

- Assist with promotion of MVCP, including volunteer recruitment and community engagement, through various methods of publicity, including social media.

- Carry out administrative and office work.

- Assist in supervising Trainee Officers.

- Assist the MVCP team, as required.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
