Role Responsibility

Our Public Transport department provides a huge range of transport services for people across the county. We support the local public transport network, coordinate concessionary fares schemes and provide bespoke transport services through contracts with local transport providers.

To join us as a Client Transport Coordinator, you need to be passionate about supporting the people of Kent and aware of the Council’s role in passenger transport. You should also have the confidence to talk to all kinds of people in a professional way, even in challenging situations. Finally, you need to be organised and self-motivated, as you’ll be operating in a busy environment. Whether you’re working on-site or from home, you’ll have the freedom to manage your own workload.

Your role in our Public Transport team

Our team organises transport for over 12,000 clients and manages around 3,000 individual contracts. This includes services for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and for residents accessing social care.

As a Client Transport Coordinator, you’ll arrange bespoke transport for these clients, ensuring they get high quality services whatever their needs. Customer-focused, you’ll be a primary point of contact, talking to schools, parents and transport providers, as well as your Council colleagues about individual travel requirements. Through collaboration and positive working relationships, you’ll answer queries, solve issues and make sure that we deliver the most appropriate services. Dedicated and proactive, you’ll look for ways to improve the service and flag up any concerns.

This is a role that calls for great customer communication skills, both written and verbal. It’s essential that you can express yourself well, even in difficult circumstances. We’re also looking for knowledge of Microsoft Office, the ability to meet deadlines and GCSEs (or equivalent). If you like the buzz of being at the heart of a team, we’d like to hear from you.
