Children's Residential Worker

Role Responsibility

Sunrise Children’s Centre offers overnight short breaks for children in West Kent from the age of 5 to 18 years old, who have learning disabilities and/or Autism, and will have some additional support needs. These may include complex health needs, behaviours of concern, and help with every day tasks. We always support children to have fun with their friends and peers, to learn skills, make choices, and to be supported in a safe and nurturing environment, so that they and their families can have a break.

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, to be able to work as part of a busy team providing a high standard of care for the children and young people that we support, work with own initiative as well as with guidance. Working at a fast pace, always ensuring the child/ young person’s needs are kept paramount.

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone who is:

  • Able to follow Care Plans whilst keeping them updated
  • To work shift work as part of a 4 week rolling rota, to include 2 weekends per month and some bank holidays.
  • To be able to create factual reports.
  • To be willing to undertake training and put theory into practice.
  • Pro-active approach to own learning.
  • To communicate in an open and honest manner
  • To organise and deliver new opportunities of recreational and social experiences for children and young people.
  •  Awareness of the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015
  • To hold a Diploma level 3/4 in Residential Childcare, or equivalent, or be willing to work towards this.

Interviews will be conducted under the ‘Choosing with Care’ assessment process which will take place over two days – candidates need to attend both days.
