Business Support Officer

Role Responsibility

An opportunity has arisen in Kent County Council’s Specialist Children’s Service to join a busy Business Support team providing administrative support to our Children’s Social Work Service based in our offices in Maidstone.

This is a varied and challenging post and the successful candidate will need to be organised, calm with a ‘can do’ approach; have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to liaise with families, colleagues and professionals within a multi-agency environment.

You will be required to use our electronic children’s services system (training will be given) so you should have sound keyboard skills.  A good level of IT skills using Excel, Word and Outlook, including recent working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases, as well as monitoring and dealing with email correspondence as necessary.

You will be required to organise a variety of meetings and produce comprehensive minutes with a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.  You will need to be able to prioritise your own workload and use your initiative to meet tight deadlines.  

You will be given regular supervision, support and training to develop yourself within the role.  You will need to be flexible and innovative, bringing a range of skills and experience to the role. You may at times be required to travel to other offices to attend training, meetings, etc.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
