Business Support Lead - Virtual School Kent

Role Responsibility

We are currently recruiting for a Business Support Lead for Virtual School Kent (VSK).

The Business Support Team provides a comprehensive level of support to the work of VSK who supports children and young people in care in Kent to achieve in education, training, and employment so they are able to go forward to contribute positively to their communities now and in the future.

The role involves,

- the direct line management of 7 Business Support Officers, 

- supporting the Senior Leadership Team with administration duties as required including note taking for meetings.

- Supporting the Service with Awards Ceremonies, Conferences, and other Events

You will need excellent organisation and communication skills and be able to proactively manage your workload, whilst supporting the management of workload across the wider team. Ideally, you will have previous experience of line management and a strong administrative background.  You should have good numeracy skills, attention to detail and be able to work to financial procedures and best practice. You should be confident in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and be willing to undertake training on our bespoke databases.

You will need to demonstrate a confident manner in liaising with professionals and organisations, acting as a contact point for the service, coordinating a range of tasks and monitoring staff performance. The work is interesting, varied and demanding, and we need someone with a calm and organised approach who can make a positive contribution to the success of the team.  We are looking for someone who is flexible and can travel to offices when needed as the team is based in Whitstable and Kings Hill, West Malling.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
