Accounts Administration Manager

Role Responsibility

We are pleased to announce three opportunities within Kent County Council (KCC) Finance division, all of which relate to Accounts Administration (Exchequer Services). The three opportunities are:

- KR11 Accounts Administration Manager - one vacancy

- KR10 Senior Advisor (Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable) - two vacancies; one with a focus on Accounts Payable, one with a focus on Accounts Receivable

KCC is looking for a KR11 Accounts Administration Manager, to work within the Financial Operations Service of KCC Finance Division. Please note that the primary location of the role is Sessions House, Maidstone, with the possibility of office working in Maidstone and home working. The position is permanent, full time (37 hours per week).  The vacancy follows a restructure of the accounts administration (Exchequer Services), whereby services will be undertaken in-house by KCC from 1st December 2022.

This highly important role involves managing the day-to-day delivery of a range of finance operational services through a team of advisors/assistants. The post holder will be required to ensure best use of resources and application of best practice to meet deadlines and provide excellent customer service. As such, they will be required to maintain effective working relationships with key customer stakeholders, whilst providing professional support and advice on payments and income related processes and legislation. You will be required to have excellent knowledge of Oracle, or a similar financial system in a large organisation. Furthermore, it is expected that the post holder will have experience of supervising a multi-function/disciplinary finance team (ie. covering various operational administration aspects such as cashiers, debt, accounts payable and accounts receivable, or similar broad range). Most importantly, in undertaking this manager role, the post holder must be enthusiastic for change and continual improvement.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Interviews to be via MS Teams video call, November 2022. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to prepare a short presentation on a specific scenario related to the role. The scenario question will be given to shortlisted candidates a week in advance, for them to deliver on the day of the interview.
