Whole System Obesity Officer

Fixed Term for 12 Months

Are you passionate about health and wellbeing? Do you want to help reduce obesity and tackle health inequalities in Kent? The Public Health Team is looking for a motivated and skilled individual to join us as a Whole Systems Obesity Officer, supporting the delivery of Kent’s Whole Systems Approach (WSO) to Healthy Weight Programme. 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic, system-wide programme that brings together partners from public, private, voluntary, and academic sectors to address obesity and its wider determinants. The role is focused on West Kent and will involve coordinating actions, building partnerships, and supporting the development and growth of the Kent Healthy Weight Network.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and direct the implementation of WSO actions across West Kent
  • Engage and support existing stakeholders while recruiting new partners across sectors
  • Promote the Healthy Weight Network and its vision
  • Facilitate network meetings, workshops, and events
  • Work closely with internal colleagues and external partners to drive forward system-wide action
  • Analyse and use data to support decision-making and evaluate impact

About You:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced project officer with:

  • Strong partnership-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, including the ability to chair meetings and deliver presentations
  • Good analytical skills and experience using data to inform action
  • A passion for reducing health inequalities and promoting healthy weight across the population 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
