Waste Asset Officer

Role Responsibility

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Environment and Circular Economy division in Kent. The team is dedicated to improving service delivery through increasing opportunities for reuse and recycling within our existing waste infrastructure. This role involves managing small, medium, and large maintenance and upgrade works, as well as managing works-related contracts to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

The Waste Asset Officer will be responsible for overseeing projects to a successful outcome, that enhance our waste infrastructure, developing a network-wide Asset Management Plan, and ensuring environmental compliance. You will work closely with external partners, contractors, and internal staff, engaging with various project delivery personnel to achieve our goals.

You will manage works-related contracts, coordinate project activities, and ensure Health and Safety standards are met. Additionally, you will monitor project budgets, provide technical support, and introduce sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of waste management operations.

The role requires collaborative working with County, District, and Borough Council officers, as well as external partners such as contractors and other stakeholders. You will also be responsible for answering enquiries from customers, stakeholders, and developers, providing general advice internally and externally, and occasionally undertaking formal briefings and workshops for wider stakeholders.

This post would suit someone with knowledge and proven experience in waste management, project management, and contract management. You will need to be able to work independently and manage your own workload. The applicant must have confidence in dealing with the public and be capable of communicating complex technical matters clearly. You must be computer literate with experience using relevant software packages including Microsoft project (or similar), spreadsheets, and databases.
