Vision Zero Strategy Manager

Role Responsibility

A unique opportunity has arisen to join one of the largest Local Authorities in England to continue to develop and drive the delivery of our ambitious Vision Zero Strategy.  

 

Our Vision Zero Road Safety Strategy was published in 2021 and is key to sharing the aspirations and motivation to make Kent one of the safest areas in the country to travel in, through and around.  Managing a group of team leaders you will have an understanding of how to facilitate and deliver effective partnership working with a wider range of stakeholders including blue light services, County and District Members.  You will be able to demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of Safe Systems and have a successful track record in the delivery of this, as well as proven people management skills.

 

This role will require the gravitas and political astuteness to act as lead spokesperson for our Vision Zero Strategy, managing the collection and interpretation of casualty data as well as evaluating existing and recent programmes and projects to assess their contribution. You will be responsible for our Kent Driver Education courses and their contribution and impact on road safety.  You will also lead a new and innovative approach to influence organisations throughout Kent to purchase the safest vehicles and encourage their employees to drive as safely as possible, researching all new technology and engage with key industry players to better understand what is happening and how we can make use of it to inform safety measures.

 

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for someone who is passionate about making our roads safer for all users, with proven experience in the line management/leadership of a multidisciplinary team, successful budget management and experience in transport planning, active travel, road safety and customer service.

 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This role requires experience of influencing, policy creation and implementation as well as leading on the publication of strategy performance against key metrics.
