Assistant Director Contest and Serious Organised Crime
Role Responsibility
Are you passionate about leading and managing strategies to combat terrorism and serious organised crime? Kent County Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to lead, manage, and develop all aspects of the Contest Strategy and Prevent Duty as defined by the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015. You will also lead and manage the Serious Organised Crime Team and be the designated Chair of the Kent and Medway Channel Panel.
We are seeking an exceptional individual with strategic management experience within a criminal justice service or adult/childrens service who has the ideas and ambition to make a sustained difference to the people of Kent.
You demonstrate a thorough understanding of responsibilities and policies with respect to crime prevention, safeguarding, MAPPA, counter terrorism and serious organised crime (SOC) at a national and local level.
You will lead, direct and manage KCC’s Contest, Prevent, Channel and Serious Organised Crime activity across the county, primarily via partnership working internally across all Directorates and externally with partner agencies.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and the postholder will be required to be vetted to security clearance (SC) level.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
As part of the interview process for this role you will be required to undergo additional testing.
Interviews will be held in two stages and will take place between 28 July 2025 to 8 August 2025.
