Trainee Technical Support Officer

Role Responsibility

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Highways Asset Management and Inspections Team as a Trainee Technical Support Officer in our Highway Definitions service

This post will play an important role in the delivery of our Highway Definition service that includes the maintenance of our National Street Gazetteer data, along with the provision of highway boundary plans and information on planned highway schemes in response to searches and enquiries.

As a team we also undertake safety inspections alongside driving good highway asset management practice across our organisation, and for our road and footway assets in particular. We are also responsible for the delivery of hundreds of planned road and footway renewal and preservation schemes, along with associated works each year.

The role will primarily involve includes providing quotations and facilitating payments for this service, alongside managing enquiries, comments, complaints and complements to deliver excellent customer service.

As a trainee role, full training will be provided. The successful candidate will be required to complete all external and internal training programmes, in conjunction with obtaining a minimum of 12 months experience, before possible succession into a KR6 Technical Support Officer role, if appropriate.

The role is based in Kroner House, Ashford, although there are good flexible working opportunities.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
