The uniqueness and beauty of Kent and its high quality landscapes, resources and assets are greatly valued by residents, businesses and visitors. Here at Kent County Council, we are understandably proud of what we and our partners are doing to protect and enhance the environment and the many social, physical and economic benefits it provides.
We’re looking for someone with an interest in the environment to join the Sustainable Business and Communities Team in an exciting opportunity to work on sustainable business and low carbon economy initiatives. The team leads on the implementation of the Kent Environment Strategy, which brings together partners across sectors to support economic growth while protecting and enhancing Kent’s natural and historic environment and supporting communities to be vibrant, healthy and resilient as Kent faces unprecedented growth and change over the coming decades.
We have a vacancy for a Project Officer to help us deliver key priorities and actions identified in the Kent Environment Strategy to grow interest in and enable growth within the Low Carbon & Renewable Energy Economy (LCREE) and Environmental Goods & Services Sector (EGSS). In this role, you will help deliver and administer aspects of all projects in the Low Carbon Kent portfolio. This means the EU-funded LoCASE, Inn2POWER, Upcycle Your Waste, BLUEPRINT, C-Care and South East New Energy. It also means legacy work on the pilot CRF project Growing Green and Clean Growth South East as part of new project development. You will work to increase SME competitiveness by providing advice, support and grants to reduce operational costs through resource efficiency and business resilience and to enhance their eco credentials.
The role will provide you opportunity to deliver a fantastic range of projects that really will make a difference to communities across the South East LEP area and beyond, touching all of the major themes in sustainability.
This post would suit someone with knowledge of sustainability or the low carbon economy, particularly with experience in research and engagement on such topics but more important will be the ability to work on effectively on multiple workstreams.
