Support Worker - Southfields Adult Short Break Service

Role Responsibility

We are looking to recruit a support worker to join our friendly team in the Southfields adult short breaks residential service for 30 hours per week.

The support worker role is to support people who visit the service for a short break stay and have care and support needs.

You need to be flexible, able to work within a team and on your own and share our commitment to providing the best care and support to the people coming to our services.

You will work alongside your team members to ensure the smooth running of the residential service.

You will be working a variety of shifts supporting those staying at the service with support including personal care.

Once you have completed a thorough induction you will provide support and respond to each person to ensure their safety whilst providing them with the comfort, stimulation, and reassurance to make each visit an enjoyable stay.

The role will involve working on a rota pattern, that will include evenings, alternate weekends, and some bank holidays.

  • You will need to hold a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards achieving this within two years of employment.  You will also be expected to complete your Care Certificate if you do not already hold this.
  • You will have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, and/or Autism
  • You will possess knowledge of safeguarding.
  • You must be able to take personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance.

In return, you will be provided with an ongoing programme of training and development and be provided with regular supervision support to enable you to confidently progress in your career.

This post involves working closely with children and adults and is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
