Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Assistant

Role Responsibility

We are looking for a dynamic, collaborative and highly motivated individual who is looking for a new challenge in a planning environment. You will work within the Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Service and will be expected to work with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders, to assist in establishing the position of Kent County Council on growth, infrastructure and planning matters.

This is a fantastic role for anyone wishing to progress within the planning field.

Main responsibilities include: co-ordination responses to Local Plans, strategic planning applications and other consultations, gaining an understanding of strategic planning, assisting in establishing the County Council’s position around the delivery of sustainable economic and housing growth, developing your skills in providing professional advice and developing an understanding of the Council’s Infrastructure Mapping Platform.

About You

The right candidate will have a 2:2 degree as a minimum in a planning related degree and GCSEs grade A-C (4-9 or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics. They will also have excellent IT skills and the ability to use technical knowledge and experience to identify and resolve problems. Importantly, they’ll show a clear commitment to continued professional and personal development.

We are currently operating hybrid working giving the flexibility for individuals to work from home or in one of our reconfigured office buildings.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
