Staff Officer to Cabinet Members for Children, Young People and Education
A permanent opportunity has arisen for a Staff Officer within the Governance, Law and Democracy Unit.
The Staff Officer provides an all-round support service to the Cabinet Members, offering advice and guidance to enable them to perform their portfolio responsibilities as effectively as possible.
In this role the successful candidate will also be required to work flexibly as part of the Cabinet Support Team; you will need to be determined, flexible, proactive and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
Key skills and competencies for this role include building working relationships with colleagues and partners, communication, problem solving and political awareness.
Given this role includes interaction with members of the public and external partners, this post is considered to be a customer-facing position. The Council is required under the Immigration Act 2016, to ensure that all staff in customer facing roles are fluent in spoken English to enable them to perform the role effectively to provide a high level of service.
We are offering a hybrid model of working which is both a mix of home working as well as utilising space in the KCC office estate.
This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
