Business Support Officer

Role Responsibility

We are seeking a confident and strong administrator, proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications with excellent communication skills and high attention to detail.  A flexible approach to changing demands and the ability to assess and prioritise your workload while supporting colleagues is essential.

 As a Support Officer within Business Services you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive support to ensure the smooth operation of key functions and service delivery across diverse teams within Growth & Communities.

The work is varied and you will take a proactive role in daily functioning and office cover with duties to include:

  • Providing high-quality customer service (first response for telephone/email correspondence
  • Managing administrative tasks including procurement of goods and services, raising orders and processing invoices
  • Supporting projects, events, arranging equipment, meetings and note-taking
  • Providing financial management support
  • Coordinating and monitoring complaints, weather alerts and FOI
  • Maintaining equipment registers and archived material (record retention and disposal)
  • Some assistance with recruitment (interviews, meeting candidates)
  • Occasional tasks/cover for Group Head and Director. 

The post is based in Maidstone, with flexible working arrangements between the office and home depending on business requirements.  You should have the ability to travel across a wide geographical area in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day if required.

 This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
