Social Work Assistant
Role Responsibility
Social Work Assistants play a vital role in the delivery of services targeted to our vulnerable children and their families in our area which includes Sevenoaks, Edenbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Paddock Wood, Cranbrook and Hawkhurst. You will be supporting a Children’s Social Work Team working with children on a statutory basis from referral, through Child In Need plans, Child Protection plans and pre- proceedings frameworks to cases in private and public law proceedings.
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include completing sessions of work with parents, children, and family groups; liaising with professional networks; and supporting families to access resources. You will be part of a wider social work team where you will be contributing to multi agency meetings, regular team meetings and you will be expected to record your work, so a good level of literacy is required.
You will need to demonstrate that you are self-motivated, have excellent communication and organisational skills, be computer literate and have experience of working with children and families.
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area including travelling around the county of Kent. You will be required to transport children, and you should note that public transport is not a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have no or limited public transport.
