Social Work Assistant
Role Responsibility
We are looking for temporary, self-motivated and passionate Social Work Assistants to work in the East Kent Children in Care Service. Initially on a 6month contract you will be based in Whitstable and be expected to be mobile throughout a wide operational area.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and committed to providing support to children and young people. You should have good communication and IT skills and an understanding of the needs of children, young people and their families.
The focus of the work is to support the statutory role of the Social Worker, which includes direct pieces of work with children and their families and assisting Social Workers in any other identified tasks. You will also be required to supervise family time between children and their families and support young people to prepare for leaving care.
The successful candidate will have a keen interest in working with children and their families and working within some complex situations.
Providing support is essential to our service users so the ability to produce good reports and case notes, collate information and liaise with social workers and other professionals to inform the complex court work is another key element of the role.
You will need to be able to demonstrate you can develop good working relationships with the families, foster carers and other professionals.
The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wide operational area and there may be times that you are required to travel across a wide geographical area, in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day. You should note that public transport is not a viable option as some rural areas of Kent often have limited public transport.
