Social Work Assistant - Disabled Children’s Team
Role Responsibility
An opportunity has arisen for a full time Social Work Assistant to support disabled children and their families.
The South Kent Coast and Thanet Disabled Children’s Team supports children and young people aged 0 – 15 who are severely and/or profoundly disabled. On their 16th birthday our young people transition over to the 16 – 25 Young People’s Team.
This post will be based in Dover or Margate but there is an expectation to work across the whole area covered by the team.
We are seeking a flexible, highly motivated person to carry a child in need caseload and carry out a variety of tasks including direct work with families and children.
A high standard of written English is an important requirement as all team members must be able to produce a good standard of report writing and maintain accurate, comprehensive written records. Excellent organisational skills, communication and IT skills are also essential.
You will need to demonstrate an ability to engage with children, young people, their families and carers coupled with the integrity to work within a confidential, professional environment. We will be looking for someone with an understanding of the rewards and challenges of caring for a disabled child. In return you will be provided with support and opportunities to develop your own knowledge and skills further with regular supervision.
If you would welcome the opportunity to join a friendly team in a worthwhile and challenging role, we would like to hear from you.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
