Senior Commissioner

Role Responsibility

KCC’s Integrated Commissioning team is looking for a Senior Commissioner. This is a full time post for 18 months. (Secondments will be considered for KCC staff with manager’s prior approval to be released)

As part of the Integrated Commissioning team, the successful candidate will become an integral part of the management team, overseeing commissioning activity across a variety of portfolios that supports the Councils Public Health agenda. We are a friendly, supportive team, who are passionate about reducing health inequalities, improving opportunities and outcomes for the residents of Kent. 

The post holder will be accountable for managing a team of Commissioners to ensure development and implementation of commissioning activities through delivery processes including innovation, service development, procurement, commercial and contract management to support KCC’s Strategic Outcomes. 

This will involve working in close partnership with Public Health, Adult and Children’s Social Care, NHS England, Providers, other key stakeholders and co-commissioners. Therefore the successful candidate must have experience in managing people and be able to evidence extensive commissioning experience as well as skills in finance and project management and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders inside and outside of the Council.

They must also be able to work well under pressure as this is a fast-paced role with multiple competing priorities including delivering a complex multi service recommissioning exercise.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
