Senior Accounting Technician

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council (KCC) has an exciting opportunity for a KR9 Senior Accounting Technician (Schools, High Needs and Early Years), within the Finance Division. Please note that the the primary location of the role is Sessions House, Maidstone, with the possibility of office and home working. The position is permanent, advertised for full time (37 hours per week), but part-time applications will also be welcomed. The post has arisen due to the imminent retirement of one of the existing team members.

This vital role will focus on supporting the technical finance function of the Schools Team, to enable the team to meet KCC’s budget responsibilities. The role involves the calculation of budgets, the publication and payment of schools’ budgets, the distribution of high needs budgets and the processing of payments to private, voluntary, and independent (PVI) Early Years provider budgets.  The role includes maintaining relevant databases and data sources, financial analysis, and providing technical (financial) IT support. The role will involve some team working, and preparing information that is timely and accurate to meet fixed, non-negotiable deadlines.  As such, the post holder will require excellent IT skills (spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software), will have experience of working within a financial environment, and have experience of producing and analysing statistical information.
