Scientific Officer
Role Responsibility
Kent Scientific Services is recruiting a Scientific Officer to work in the Toxicology Section of its Analytical laboratory at Kings Hill, West Malling in Kent.
The post is a fascinating opportunity to use your chemistry knowledge and skills in a vital area of work, supporting the community and making a real difference in people’s lives. It involves analysing a variety of samples in support of, and under the direction of the Senior Coroners in Kent to help establish cause of death in appropriate cases.
An appropriate and sensitive attitude to this type of work is essential.
Starting salary will be dependent on qualification and experience. Applications are invited from chemists qualified to HND or degree level.
We are keen to encourage and support staff who wish to further their career and study for appropriate further qualifications, for example moving from HND (level 5) to degree (level 6) via an apprenticeship route.
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
