After a further 2 years (min) and successfully completing the qualification, as a Trading Standards Officer - £39,355 - £44,900
We are offering an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals to follow a career in trading standards and become a fully qualified Trading Standards Officer.
About the role
You will join a dynamic and innovative team of professional Trading Standards Officers protecting Kent residents and helping businesses grow and develop in a fair-trading environment.
As an apprentice, you will support Trading Standards Officers in their work across a wide range of enforcement activities, including product safety, food standards, animal health, and trademarks. You will also assist in investigating and preparing cases for court.
You will undergo training and development to become a qualified Trading Standards Officer. In this role, you will be part of the Trading Standards service, providing enforcement, advice, and guidance on a wide range of legislation, with a focus on tobacco, vapes, and nicotine products. This position is funded as part of the government's initiative to increase enforcement in the areas of illegal tobacco, vapes, and other nicotine products.
You will be expected to complete the professional qualification for which we offer a full training package, coupled with continuous on-the-job training from our team of Officers, who will support you to become a fully qualified Trading Standards Professional.

The candidate
We are looking for individuals educated to A level (or equivalent), possessing a GCSE (or equivalent) in maths and English at grade C. No prior enforcement or regulatory experience is required.
Our office is based in Ashford, however, KCC expects officers to work flexibly, partly from home several days a week. Your duties mean you will work across Kent and sometimes outside the County, therefore you will need to supply your own vehicle to meet the requirements of the role. You may also be required to work outside core hours and occasionally at weekends when necessary.
