Role Responsibility

The Nest is a residential, short stay home located in Ashford, that provides support for up to three children and young people (13-18 years of age) that have a learning disability, challenging behaviour and may be at risk of tier 4 admission.

The purpose of The Nest is to work with children and young people for a defined period of time up to 10 weeks, and work with families and professionals to develop a support plan and PBS (positive behavioural support) plan to change and reduce behaviours of concern in ways that are able to be sustained post input. 

As Registered Manager you will be expected to operationally manage various aspects of the service, including regulatory compliance, Health and Safety, staff training and recruitment, staff rota’s, referrals, admissions and discharges to The Nest, and compliance with KCC’s policies and procedures.

The Registered Manager is required to work flexibly, and at times this will be to support ‘on shift’ as required.

You will have knowledge of Ofsted’s Social Care Common Inspection Framework and have experience in managing and leading a staff team to achieve excellent outcomes for the children and young people. 

In return you will be supported with regular supervision, bespoke training in relation to the role including the PBS framework, and a starting salary of £39812, rising to £45589 through KCC’s annual TCP process. 

Interviews will be conducted in line with the ‘Choosing with Care’ process. 

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
