Kent Public Health – Smokefree Generation Kent job opportunities

Kent Public Health is seeking to expand to deliver an extended tobacco control agenda under the government’s new smokefree plan, Stopping the Start. There are new and exciting opportunities available to support our excellent tobacco control and commissioning teams and take our Stopping the Start delivery plan forward.  We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic team members, ideally with public health backgrounds and project management skills and knowledge of the tobacco control agenda.  This is an exciting initiative that will run for three years with a view to extend for up to two additional years.  If you meet the requirements of the following job descriptions and are up for the challenge, we welcome your application.

 

Public Health Specialist (Smoke Free Generation)

We are looking to appoint a Public Health Specialist to join our thriving public health team.

You will need to be experienced and skilled with a strong public health knowledge base.

As the Public Health Specialist, you will be supporting the Tobacco Control portfolio of work to develop Kent’s new Smoke Free Generation, Stopping the Start delivery plan. You will have a keen interest and enthusiasm, a proven track record in delivering public health projects and programmes, strategic direction, and policy advice to a high standard.   The role will be to develop, support, monitor, and review several new and exciting tobacco control programmes across public health.

You will be skilled in the use of data and analysis to inform policy and programmes.

Kent is a large County with lots of complex public health issues. You will have the ability to prioritise competing demands and objectives, coupled with diplomacy and a working knowledge of all areas of public health.

The post will initially be appointed on a three-year fixed term contract with the aim to review and extend for up to two additional years (funding dependent).

This post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Part-time will be considered.
