DEPUTY DIRECTOR AND CONSULTANTS IN PUBLIC HEALTH

Kent County Council, Maidstone Kent

Enhancing the health of thousands of people is a tall order, but at Kent County Council, we know it can happen with the right people leading.

The Director of public health is putting together his senior leadership team and is recruiting to three additional consultant positions, one of whom will also be the Deputy Director of Public Health in Kent.

The consultant portfolios are:

  • Health Protection and Wider Determinants – Deputy Director of Public Health
  • Health Behaviours & Communities
  • Adults and Older People and Policy Integration

You will need to be a UK qualified public health consultant with a passion for tackling health inequalities and up for the challenge of working in a complex and diverse environment. We have an experienced team working to achieve the aspirations of our members for improving the health and wellbeing of the Kent population.

We are well integrated into the council and support the Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG; soon to be replaced by the Kent and Medway Integrated Care System) and have a Public Health commissioning programme of circa £80 million with a major focus on reducing health inequalities.

Kent is recognised as an excellent training site for public health specialists, has an integral Kent Public Health Observatory https://www.kpho.org.uk and library function and has national recognition for several programmes including Public Health research linked with Europe.
