Project Manager - Innovation Delivery Team
Role Responsibility
Fixed Term: 12 months
Adult Social Care and Health (ASCH) (KR12) Opportunity
The challenge
Social care and health services across Kent face several significant challenges in the years ahead, as the population is living longer and with more complex needs; increasing demand on the health and care sector. We are committed to maintaining and improving high quality services, despite funding challenges faced by all public sector organisations. To help us achieve our ambitions, we have a dedicated Innovation Delivery Team to drive and deliver successful change within the organisation.
The opportunity
We are offering an exciting opportunity within Adult Social Care and Health (ASCH), to lead on a variety of new and existing high-profile projects that will help contribute towards the organisation’s strategic objectives. We are looking for a motivated individual who can make an impact from day one and can effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, to manage the delivery of successful change within the Directorate. In this Project Manager role, you will be leading on high-priority projects at a strategic level. You will manage a project team made up of Project Officers and Project Support (potentially across several projects concurrently) and may have line management responsibilities. You will need to pro-actively drive the work forward and be able to make decisions and independently plan next steps, as well as frequently keeping key stakeholders apprised with regular updates throughout the project(s).
The projects you are delivering may be within our main transformational ‘Making a difference every day’ Programmes of activity, or you may be working within our new Social Care Reform Programme. Reforms to Adult Social Care are largely being driven by a recent series of white papers setting out the government’s vision for the future of social care. The changes proposed are complex and far reaching, requiring a collective effort from colleagues across the organisation and our partners in Health to deliver. With Covid19 still impacting demand for services and budgets across Health and Social Care, timescales for implementation are challenging. The programme will oversee a number of smaller projects delivering the required changes to Adult Social Care, regularly reporting progress to a Programme Board of senior departmental managers.
The Person
Resilience, adaptability, confidence to make things happen and drive change forward are essential skills for the role. You will need to act on your own initiative, make decisions, be innovative, constantly be forward thinking and work with minimum guidance / instructions, overcoming obstacles along the way. You will also need to work in an agile way, using design thinking principles and balancing a range of disparate tasks in order to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure effectively.
You must be able to demonstrate excellent project management skills from conception to delivery, including financial monitoring; planning; improvement cycles; the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities; and the ability to present this information to a wide audience. Leadership, interpersonal, negotiation and motivational qualities are essential. You will be supported in developing your project management skillset and knowledge further.
