Project Officer (Finance, Monitoring, and Reporting)

Kent County Council’s Economy Team is managing the government’s new Connect to Work programme which aims to help people with long-term health conditions, disabilities and other disadvantaged groups to access employment and stay and succeed in work.
We are looking for a Principal Project Officer who will work closely with the Programme Manager (Skills and Employment), and other Project Officers, to oversee specific areas of this high-profile programme in Kent & Medway. This exciting role will involve reporting on the performance of the programme to DWP and managing grant funded spending.
The post holder will need to have experience monitoring performance KPIs and their financial impact, particularly for public sector/government funded programmes. They will work very closely with the Project Officer responsible for performance, compliance and quality, to communicate with delivery partners on financial progress.
Advanced Excel skills will be needed for this role and experience dissecting and building forecasts and budgets. Along with the ability to present and explain these to stakeholders. In addition, we are looking for someone with a proven ability to meet deadlines, be organised and with a great attention to detail which can be demonstrated in a similar environment.
The postholder will report directly into the Programme Manager and will be part of the wider Economy team, the role will be based in Maidstone and remotely, with regular travel around Kent and Medway.
In the early stages of the role, the post holder will be supporting the Programme Manager with the implementation phase of the programme, which may involve shaping financial models and will find the postholder at the forefront of understanding grant claims processes and sharing these with providers. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with operational experience, to get involved in the early stages of the budgeting and reporting process and have an input.
