Principal Strategic Energy and Infrastructure Officer

Role Responsibility

We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual who is looking for a new challenge, with the drive and enthusiasm to take a leading role in understanding and promoting the county’s energy needs and priorities on behalf of the County Council. You will work within the Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Service and will be expected to work with colleagues and stakeholders across the Planning and Energy sectors, to help establish the County Council’s position on energy supply and security.  

Working within the Growth and Communities Division, the postholder will take the lead in preparing the Council’s first Energy Strategy, which establishes the position of the County Council on all energy infrastructure and planning matters. You will have a pivotal role in promoting KCC’s position around energy and infrastructure to Government and a range of key partners, enabling you to influence policy and legislation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to work within a complex and varied environment. You will be able to maximise your impact by excelling in collaborative working across the County Council and also with a range of external stakeholders. Your innovative and flexible approach to the role will enable you to successfully meet outcomes which will make a real impact on the energy matters involving of the Council, enabling you to make a difference to Kent residents, communities and businesses.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
