Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Role Responsibility

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate individual to join the Housing Support Team within KCC 18+ Care Leavers Service as a Personal Advisor (Housing Specialist). This post will be based in Worrall House (West Malling, Kent) and will have the primary focus of preventing and addressing homelessness amongst KCC’s Care Leaving cohort, including support for citizen and former UASC young people.

This role is Fixed-Term with a contract end date of 31st March 2022, to start as soon as the successful applicant is identified, following completion of all usual HR recruitment processes. This post is funded by the Rough Sleeping Grant with funds from the Department for Education.

We are looking to recruit an innovative and committed individual, who would be able to think on their feet and address the needs of the young people as they present them and work as a liaison between the young person, the local housing authorities and wider community partners, to ensure that the young people are afforded every opportunity to meet their own housing needs, with support and guidance from the Housing Specialist, as well as to effectively plan the journey of the young person, to avoid the potential experience of homelessness, wherever possible.

You will also be able to appreciate and strive to meet the shared objectives of the KCC Homelessness Project and to support the overall aims of stability and understanding of responsibilities involved in sustaining stable accommodation, which underpin the  approach of the Housing Support team, within the 18+ Service.

The ability to travel across the county in a timely and flexible manner at various times of the day is essential.

You will receive quality monthly supervision, enjoy good support from peers and have access to a wide range of training opportunities.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
