Permanent Relief Support Worker
Role Responsibility
Dover Community Day Service currently based at the Walmer Centre, Walmer, Deal, is looking to recruit a Permanent Relief Support Worker to assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of adults with learning disabilities. This will be achieved by using a person centred approach, providing encouragement, support and assistance and promoting the social inclusion, rights and choices of those with a learning disability, enabling people to live more independent and fulfilled lives. You will be supporting people with learning disabilities to access activities and participate fully in their local community; therefore an awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour and people who have more complex care and support needs including manual handling tasks such as pushing wheelchairs is essential to the role.
The position will involve direct community support for the people who use the service, therefore the candidate will need to have very good communication skills, good organisation skills and a demonstrable basic level of I.T knowledge necessary for this role.
The successful candidate will have a level 3 Diploma or NVQ in Health & Social Care or equivalent and will work towards completion of the care certificate.
