Permanent Relief Minibus Driver
Role Responsibility
We have an exciting opportunity arisen within our Community Day Service, the successful applicant will predominantly work across the Canterbury & Swalecliffe locality, supporting individuals with learning and/or physical disabilities to access and be a part of their local community, this will involve working from various hubs within the locality.
You will assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of people with learning disabilities by using a person centred approach, providing them with encouragement, support and assistance, promoting their social inclusion and promoting their rights and choice under the supervision and direction of a senior member of staff and within the context of County and Directorate procedures, as well as primary care legislation, to enable people with learning disabilities to live more independent and fulfilled lives.
As a permanent relief Minibus Driver, you will be required to complete a KCC Minibus Driver Assessment and Passenger Safety course before commencing driving duties. We also are required to see your driving licence.
Relevant experience of care and support of other individuals (this can include voluntary experience and personal experiences as well as paid work), including within the public, private or voluntary sectors in the care of adults, working with people with learning disabilities. You will need to have an awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities with challenging behaviour, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities.
You will be expected to drive the minibus in accordance with the Highway Code, the County Council's Code of practice for minibus drivers and training provided by the Road Safety Unit of the county Council to maintain client, staff, and public safety whilst on the highway.
This role is subject to holding a full UK Driving Licence and will need category D on your driving licence.
You will be expected to complete all mandatory training relevant to the role.
This post is for a permanent relief minibus driver covering holidays and sickness, as and when needed. It would be covering a split shift, two hours in the morning - 08.00 - 10.00 and / or two hours in the afternoon - 15.00 - 17.00
