Occupational Therapy Assistant
Role Responsibility
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Occupational Therapy Assistant in our East Kent Disabled Children’s and Young People’s Service. To be based at a KCC office within the East of the county covering Ashford, Canterbury, Swale, South Kent Coast and Thanet areas.
You must have a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent. You must be competent in clinical assessment and reasoning skills; have effective written and verbal communication.
You should be able to plan, organise and evaluate your own workload; be self-motivated, work well in a team and with other professionals and outside agencies. You will receive day to day support, supervision, and training. Please refer to job description for full requirements of the post.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant role within the team is to triage new referrals identifying if there are any functional needs requiring the provision of core stock equipment. This involves visiting children/ young people in their homes, education, or short break setting.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant will assist the Occupational Therapists within the team with moving and handling, housing needs assessments and monitoring of the duty mailbox to signpost queries to the relevant departments within the service.
This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
In line with government legislation, all employees who work in a CQC registered care home or will need to attend such a setting as a fundamental part of their role, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This role is deemed to fall within the scope of this legislation and therefore to be considered for the role you must confirm on application you are fully vaccinated, or that you are exempt. Evidence of vaccination or exemption will be required as part of the pre-employment checks KCC will undertake on you.
