Occupational Therapist

Role Responsibility

We require a full time Occupational Therapist in our Disabled Children’s and Young People’s OT Service (0-25). This post will be covering the East Kent area and West Kent area, the working hours are negotiable.

You must be a qualified Occupational Therapist registered with the HCPC. You must have

  • A full knowledge of legislation and policies of the provision of services to disabled children/ young people and their carers.
  • A good working knowledge of  Disabled Facilities Grant legislation.
  • Competent clinical assessment and reasoning skills, effective written and verbal communication.
  • The ability to plan, organise and evaluate your workload; be self-motivated, work well in a team and with other professionals and outside agencies.

You will receive day to day support, supervision, and training. Please refer to job description for full requirements of the post.

The  Occupational Therapy Team are co located with Social Workers.  We work collaboratively with internal and external agencies to  facilitate care packages, equipment provision and adaptations to the home environment.  We support our social work colleagues in the safeguarding process and assist our fostering colleagues to ensure safe and suitable placements for disabled children and young people.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and a relevant professional qualification (Occupational Therapy) as well as up to date registration with the appropriate professional body.

This post is considered by Kent County Council to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
