Role Responsibility

Are you looking for an opportunity to further your career in marketing and communications within the largest local authority in the UK?

In these unprecedented times it has never been more important for us to communicate effectively with residents and businesses by generating creative, high-impact and targeted marketing and PR.

As Communications Officer for Kent County Council’s Public Health team you will be the first port of call for media enquiries, delivering high-quality content for internal and external audiences as the county moves out of the lockdown period and returns to a new ‘normal’.

We need an experienced and talented communicator who support the delivery of critical public health messaging and who can excite and inspire audiences by producing creative and innovative content across all our channels.

We are looking for a team player who not only has experience in media and communications but is also creative, wants to make an impact and is a fast learner. You will need a great news sense, a natural flair for the written word, attention to detail and the ability to take in complex information. You will be a key player in the ongoing management and growth of KCC's social media presence across platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.

This is an exciting, challenging and varied role for the right candidate.

The role is currently home based, but KCC Communications Officers are occasionally expected to travel to events, press briefings and council meetings across Kent when necessary, to promote and support Members and officers. The role also requires out of hours working for key media announcements and breaking stories, as well as participation in an out of hours duty rota.
