Kent Professional Lead Speech and Language Therapist Balanced System®

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council and Kent and Medway CCG are working with providers and stakeholders to co-design a seamless offer for speech, language, and communication in Kent.

We are looking for an experienced Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to become joint Kent Wide Professional Lead for the implementation of the Balanced System® Framework for Speech, Language and Communication. You will be employed by Kent County Council in the SEN Therapies team. This post is funded by the Kent and Medway CCG.

The Lead Speech and Language Therapist will work alongside another Professional Lead from an education background to ensure both health and education sectors operate in an integrated way. You will be a key link between the services and stakeholders to ensure Kent Wide implementation of the Balanced System and will need to develop strong professional relationships focused on optimising outcomes for children.

You will have significant experience as a senior Speech and Language Therapist.  You will be passionate about meeting the needs of children and families and bringing about long-term change for SLCN provision in Kent.

  • You will be able to draw upon their experience and expertise to facilitate and drive forward the implementation of the Balanced System® Framework for Speech, Language and Communication.
  • You will competently engage with stakeholders to promote the project and disseminate information about the Balanced System® including presentations, information sessions and coaching.

  • You have the ability and relationship skills to work in conjunction with Better Communication CIC, commissioners, therapy providers and parents across Kent.

  • You have the confidence to challenge ways of working and persuade, motivate, and influence stakeholders to realign their practice as necessary.
  • You are disciplined in their approach to keeping to timescales and working with key partners to ensure the project is kept on track while remaining collaborative.
