KR9 Accountant Level 1 (Revenue Finance)

Role Responsibility

We have a 12 month, full-time vacancy for a KR9 Accountant Level 1 (Revenue Finance), within Kent County Council’s (KCC’s) Finance division. The primary location for this post is Sessions House, although the post currently involves working from home, with some office working as required at Maidstone. Both internal and external applicants are welcome. For internal applicants this post would be offered as a 12 month Secondment opportunity, for external applicants this would be a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. The post holder will predominately work on supporting budget managers in the Strategic & Corporate Services (S&CS) directorate. 

The Role 
The successful applicant will be required to assist in the preparation of the annual revenue budget and monthly revenue budget monitoring statements, in accordance with all relevant legislation, KCC strategies, policies, procedures and timescales. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with other Accountants within Revenue Finance and Revenue and Tax Strategy to ensure consistency in approach to achieve best practice.

The successful applicant will be educated to NVQ Level 4 or equivalent (e.g. AAT), and/or proven ability to deliver the requirements of the post. The post holder will be expected to have excellent Excel spreadsheet skills. The post holder will also be required to have a detailed knowledge of the processes for budget preparation, budget monitoring and budgetary control, and an awareness of data protection and confidentiality issues. This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
