Investment Accountant, Level 2

Role Responsibility

Kent County Council is pleased to confirm an opportunity for an Investment Accountant, Level 2, within the Pensions & Treasury Service, Finance Division.  Please note that the the primary location of the role is Sessions House, Maidstone, with the possibility of office and home working. The vacancy, which is Maternity Cover, is offered as a Secondment opportunity to existing KCC staff, and as Temporary Contract for up to 12 months to external applicants.  The position is for 30 hours a week, although this would be adjusted, should an existing full-time staff member wish to pursue as a Secondment.

This important role provides investment monitoring of the Pension Fund. The role involves assisting the Head of Pensions and Treasury with the development and implementation of the Kent Fund’s Responsible Investment (RI) policy. As such, it involves supporting members of the Pension Fund committee as well as working closely with the Fund’s investment managers and advisors. The postholder will represent the Kent Fund on the development and implementation of the ACCESS pool RI and voting policies.  Please see attached job description for full details.

The candidate will have experience of working in a finance role, including a high level of valid technical accounting skills.  It is also required that the candidate has a knowledge and understanding of investment instruments, transaction processes involved, as well as related accounting requirements. Eg an understanding of financial controls.
